Review
The Minaldi Legacy is a story that centers around a reclusive tycoon, Luca Minaldi and psychiatrist Eva Talbot. It consists of two parts, part one: Of Blood and Bone and part two: Of Darkness and Demons.
I really enjoyed this book especially the second part where everything sort of unraveled for Eva and Luca. The first part, Of Blood and Bone sets a dark and mysterious tone throughout the whole book. It was somber and as I was reading it, it really felt like something sinister was just lurking around the corner. The mysterious killings, Luca's reticence and his mother's demented ramblings added to the eeriness of the whole book.
I admired Eva's tenacity and her no-nonsense approach to Luca's mysterious illness. She never faltered in her belief. Luca himself was fascinating. You really feel his guilt and self-loathing for those things that he's done.
But what really hooked me to this book was twist -- or should I say the twists that the author brought to the story. I honestly did not see those coming because it was so out of left field but then the more you think about it, the more it actually made sense. It made sense in a way that it was right there under our noses all along and when it was revealed, every puzzle piece just fell right into place.
This was another engrossing read from Courtney Cole. I actually liked the supernatural elements to the story. It was just enough to add another layer of mystery to the story. I'll definitely be recommending this one.
