Release Blitz: A Fighter's Desire by L.P. Dover

A FIGHTER'S DESIRE - PART ONE

Two is always better than one.

What would you do if you were given the chance to spend the night with not one, but two fighters? Would you do it? Could you open yourself up to the pleasures they offered and do exactly what they said in order to pass on to the next round?

It was common knowledge that Ryley and Camden Jameson, well-known MMA fighters and identical twins, were just as aggressive and passionate in the bed as they were in the ring. The only problem was that if you didn’t pass their test on the first night, then you didn’t proceed to the next round. They loved a good fight, and that's what they got when they met Ashleigh Warren.

Ashleigh knew what was going to happen when the twins approached her with a proposition, and needless to say, she knew exactly how to handle them … or so she thought. The rules had changed, and in order to get them both she had to first spend one night with each and last until they were done with her. It was a proposition she couldn’t refuse, but she knew it wouldn’t be easy to win. However, it was one that she was going to enjoy.

A FIGHTER'S DESIRE - PART TWO

When you’re told to stay away from someone or something it only drives the urge to go after it more. In this case, that was exactly what happened. For years, Gabriella Reynolds—younger sister of MMA’s Heavyweight Champion, Matt Reynolds—was warned by him to stay away from his fighter friends; she deserved better and they would only break her heart.

Did she listen? Yes, for a while, but temptation can only consume you so much until you fall into its trap. There’s a certain fighter she’s interested in, and it just so happens that he’s her brother’s best friend, the only one that is completely off limits to her. However, she’s not the only one fighting temptation. Tyler Rushing can’t deny his attraction to her, but he’s afraid she’ll want more and he can’t give that to her. When he finds out that’s not the case … everything changes.

Secrets can be dangerous, but they can also be thrilling and intense. Gabriella and Tyler have no choice but to keep their time together a secret … and it’s a secret that’ll stay with them forever.

EXCERPT
PART 1:

“You don’t even know me,” I challenged. “Why do you want me to be your date? You saw me for one second when you were up in the ring. I could be the biggest bitch in the world for all you know.”
“That could be true. If you want the honest truth,” he said, gazing down my body, “I saw you in that red dress and all I could think about was how hot it would be to fuck you in it.”
Holding in my gasp, I tightened my legs together to keep my clit from throbbing out of control. It pissed me off that my body responded to him, but it could also be because he was so close; brushing his heated body against mine, and smelling so amazingly delicious. The wild side of me wanted to tell him to take me right then and there, but the logical side wanted to slap the shit out of him.
“Do you honestly get women by saying stuff like that?” I asked dryly, without a hint of a smile.
His grin grew wider. “Most of the time. So what do you say? Do you want to be my date for the night … the whole night?”
Yes, my mind screamed at me.
“No,” I snapped, making his smug smile disappear. “I’m not one of your little groupies, Ryley, and I sure as hell am not going to beg for your attention like what you’re used to. You need to find someone else. I’m not interested.”
You just lied again, I scolded myself.
Turning on my heel, I headed for the door and opened it, only to be stopped by a hand grasping my arm and the door shutting quickly in front of me. “Don’t you see? I don’t want anyone else. I saw you and you are what I want.”
Laughing, I turned around and yanked my arm out of his hold. “Tell that to someone who’ll believe you, Ryley. I don’t fall that easily, especially for someone who hasn’t had to work for a woman. You’ll have to do much better than that.”
Or else I’m not going to play the game.

PART 2

Breathing hard, I stepped out of Tyler’s reach and started for the door, much to his dismay. “Why are you here, Gabriella?”
Keeping my back to him, I paused with my hand on the knob, and blew out a heavy sigh. “I told you. When I want something, I get it. I wanted to see you.”
“You’re walking a dangerous line, Gabriella. I don’t do relationships, and I don’t plan on starting … even if it is with you.”
I glanced at him over my shoulder. “Well, then I guess it’s a good thing I don’t want one with you either. Look, Tyler, I’m only here for the weekend. If you want to see me again you know how to find me. No strings, just you and me.”

EXCERPT

“God, you’re so f*cking beautiful.”
Her eyes widened up at him. She could only imagine how she looked. Hair messy and damp, his shirt sliding off one shoulder, eyes glazed over.
“You are.” He shook his head as if searching for the words to explain his attraction to her. “That first night, swear to everything holy, I thought you might be some mythical creature come to steal my soul. But you were so damn beautiful that I would have given it to you.”
She kept quiet, afraid to move or speak and risk breaking the magic that kept him with her, kept him from running. He wasn’t running. He was opening up and being honest.
Dean lowered himself into the bed beside her, propping on one elbow and facing her. Fate mirrored his position and admired the way the moonlight lit his handsome face.
“I asked the universe for a sign. It sent me you.”
Her whispered confession made him smile. But his expression turned serious far too soon for her liking. “I felt it the moment I saw you. A compulsion like I’d never felt before, as if some unseen force propelled me toward you without my consent. I’ve felt it ever since.”
Fate rested her head on her hands and nodded against them. “I feel it too. I’m just…a little afraid of it. Of what it might cost us.”
“My mom used to say that things worth having didn’t come easy and that the kind of girl that was worth waiting for wouldn’t wait on anyone. Those two adages keep coming back to me every time I think of you.”
She inched her hand over toward his. “Do you do that often? Think of me?”
Dean kept eye contact, only breathing and watching her. “Define often.”
Fate grinned. “More than once a week.”
The slight curve of his lips faded and his gaze became a heavy, tangible thing she could feel pressing into her.
“I thought of you every day, Fate. And I didn’t even know your name. Even after I did… I think after that, it was more like several times a day.”
She wanted to keep this moment, to keep him here with her just like this. Both of them exposed and vulnerable. It was real and honest and—despite her exhaustion— exhilarating. But she knew it wouldn’t last forever. Nothing ever did.
“Sleep with me tonight. Don’t leave. Just… Just sleep with me, please.”
He nodded, letting his fingers interlace with hers between them and placing a soft kiss on the top of her hand. “I’m not going anywhere. Goodnight, sweetheart.”
“Goodnight, Dean.”

{Review} Beauty and the Mustache by Penny Reid

Title: Beauty and the Mustache
Author: Penny Reid
Series: Knitting in the City Book #4
Rating: 5 Stars!

Synopsis

There are three things you need to know about Ashley Winston: 1) She has six brothers and they all have beards, 2) She is a reader, and 3) She knows how to knit.

Former beauty queen, Ashley Winston’s preferred coping strategy is escapism. She escaped her Tennessee small town, loathsome father, and six brothers eight years ago. Now she escapes life daily via her Amazon kindle one-click addiction. However, when a family tragedy forces her to return home, Ashley can’t escape the notice of Drew Runous— local Game Warden, bear wrestler, philosopher, and everyone’s favorite guy. Drew’s irksome philosophizing in particular makes Ashley want to run for the skyscrapers, especially since he can’t seem to keep his exasperating opinions— or his soulful poetry, steadfast support, and delightful hands— to himself. Pretty soon the girl who wanted nothing more than the escape of the big city finds she’s lost her heart in small town Tennessee.

Fire burns blue and hot.
Its fair light blinds me not.
Smell of smoke is satisfying, tastes nourishing to my tongue.
I think fire ageless; never old, and yet no longer young.
Morning coals are cool, daylight leaves me blind.
I love the fire most because of what it leaves behind.

This book made me happy and in love. Full stop.

It’s one of those reads that didn’t have unnecessary angst, just a well thought out plot with awesome dialogue and great characters all around. I’ve enjoyed every couple in this series, from Quinn and Janie, Elizabeth and Nico, Sandra and Alex. But I have to say I fell head over heels in love with Drew and Ashley. Their story resonated with me the most. I know I sound like a broken record because I’ve been saying this as each book in the series gets published but this book just keeps getting better and better. And this is hands down my favorite in this series.

After 8 years Ashley is back with her family in Tennessee to care for her ailing mother. Being back home also means seeing her 6 bearded brothers again, who were partly responsible for her wanting to live a life away from Tennessee. But as days turned into weeks and as Ashley spends her time caring for her mother, she realized that things have changed. Her brothers were no longer the irresponsible hooligans that she remembered from long ago. They have changed. Everything it seemed has changed.

And a big part of that change was Drew. Drew Runous was also bearded, hunky, quiet and the most fascinating man Ashley has ever met. Their first introduction to each other was hilarious. But as Ashley soon found out, Drew was more than just a friend to her family. He played a big role is her brothers’ lives and ultimately her own life as well.

Beauty and the Mustache not only proved that Penny Reid is a talented author (we already know that), but it also shows the depth in the way she wrote these characters. While this book still retains her trademark humor and quirks, it was also more emotional and poignant. Even the subject that was tackled here was a departure from her previous works. But it was handled with such care and with humor that even though this book made me cry, it also made me cry. Sometimes at the same time.

“I’m glad you know my heart, because you are my heart.”

Drew. The fact that Charlie Hunnam and Travis Fimmel was the inspiration for his character had nothing to do with the reason why I loved Drew at all (liar, liar, pants on fire). I swears. Seriously though, Drew is PR best hero to day. He’s sexy alpha minus the asshole part. And he’s also sensitive, smart, and steadfast. Best of all, he writes poetry. I’m sorry but any guy character who writes beautiful poetry is a winner in my book. No doubt about it.

Ashley was just as wonderful. When I found out it was going to be Ashley’s book, I was hesitant because I couldn’t even remember her from the knitting group. She sort of flew under the radar. It wasn’t surprising though because Sandra was such a big personality that she overshadows even the other girls. But as I continue to read this book, I fell in love with Ashley as well. It broke my heart the things she went through in this book.

Ashley Austen Winston,
You don’t know how deeply you cut when your intentions carry no knives.

But what truly made this an inspiring read for me were Ashley’s brothers and the ladies of the knitting group. If you read this book, you’ll know the reason why I lumped them together. Ashley’s brothers were just phenomenal. Either you wanna sleep with or you want them to be your brothers as well. Each has a distinct personality that just jumps off the page. They’re bold, hot, loyal and most of all, they all loved Ashley in their own unique way. They provided some of the most beautiful heartrending moments in the books.

The ladies of the knitting group outdid themselves in this book as well. I loved that I was able to get to know these ladies through the course of this series. They are hilarious. I loved their friendship. Most of the time, in romance novels, the women are get pitted against each other; the virgins and the sluts, etc. But in this series, we get to read about a group of women who love and support each other. And it’s a beautiful thing to read.

Ultimately, I’d say this book is so much more about the romance between Drew and Ashley. It’s also about family, friends, loyalty and growing up. Definitely one of my favorite read this year. Oh, and the quotes at the beginning of each chapter were fantastic.

{ARC Review} In Your Dreams by Kristan Higgins

In Your Dreams (Blue Heron #4)In Your Dreams by Kristan Higgins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Expected Date of Publication: September 30, 2014

 Synopsis

Emmaline Neal needs a date. Just a date—someone to help her get through her ex-fiancĂ©'s wedding without losing her mind. But pickings are slim in Manningsport, New York, population 715. In fact, there's really only one option: local heartthrob Jack Holland. Everyone loves Jack, and he won't get the wrong idea…. After all, Jack Holland would never actually be interested in a woman like Em. Especially not with his beautiful ex-wife creeping around, angling to reunite ever since he rescued a group of teens and became a local hero.

But when the wedding festivities take an unexpectedly passionate turn, Em figures it was just one crazy night. Jack is too gorgeous, too popular, to ever end up with her. So why is she the one he can talk to about his deep, dark feelings? If Em is going to get her dream man, she'll have to start by believing in him…
My Review
If you're a fan of Kristan Higgins, especially her Blue Heron series, then you would undoubtedly enjoy In Your Dreams. This book is about Jack Holland, the all-around American hero and all around nice guy and Emmaline.

Their romance is unconventional because you would never thought of them as being the perfect match. Emmaline suffered from residual insecurities due to her stutter and then being dumped by her fiance for a gorgeously lithe Barbie. Meanwhile, Jack was tired of being called a hero especially when, in his estimation, he failed spectacularly at it and just want to get away. Emmaline needing a date to her ex-fiance's wedding proved to be the distraction he needed to get away. Of course, sparks fly between Jack and Emmaline and sets them on a course of self-discovery and happily ever after.

One thing I loved about this book is the small town setting. I have a soft spot for small town romances and Kritan Higgins is a master of small town romance. Her characters are vividly drawn. They're not always perfect but their flaws is what makes them lovable and relatable in the first place.

In Your Dreams is vintage Higgins with its wickedly funny dialogue and quirky characters. I enjoyed reading this book immensely. If you're a hardcore romance reader who likes steam in her books, then a fair warning. This book doesn't have any graphic sexy scenes. In fact, all the love scenes were fade to black. I didn't miss it that much though. In fact, I found it oddly refreshing.

I'll definitely recommend this book if you're in a mood for some light, wholesome romance.

Blog Tour: Stripping the Billionaire by Noelle Adams

Stripping the Billionaire2
Title: Stripping the Billionaire (Heirs of Damon #4)
Author: Noelle Adams
Release Date: 9/9/2014

Synopsis

For the last eight months, Mandy has lived across the hall from a caveman.

He won’t trim his beard, he mostly talks in grunts, and he’ll hardly emerge from his cave of an apartment. Ben might be a grumpy mess, but she kind of likes him anyway. She’s not attracted to him, of course. Not at all. Those stray feelings are merely a fluke. She’s looking for a man who has it all together, and Ben isn’t even close.

Benjamin Damon is heir to a billion-dollar corporate empire, but he has put his family and that whole lifestyle behind him. No one knows who he is now—not even his pretty princess of a neighbor who refuses to leave him alone.

When she ropes him into taking her with him to work on his mother’s historic Savannah home, he knows it’s a mistake. Mandy represents the world he’s tried so hard to escape, and he can’t let one woman strip him of the new man he’s tried to become. The more he’s with her, though, the more he wants her. Despite his best efforts, he’s falling for her hard—and dreading the day she finds out all of his lies.

Get to Know Noelle Adams

How did you come up with the idea for this story? I’ve had the idea for this book for three years now, since I plotted out the entire Heirs of Damon series all at once. I can’t exactly remember how I came up with the idea, except I know I wanted the contrast between Ben, with his full beard and grumpy attitude, and Mandy, with her perfect appearance and cheerful disposition.

Where do you find your inspiration? I most often get inspired by random things in my life. For instance, I was inspired for one scene in Stripping the Billionaire when I was sitting in church and thinking that Benjamin’s mother would definitely go to church. I’m also often inspired by other stories (books, television, movies, etc.). It’s usually one little thing that ends up launching the story. For instance, I got the idea for A Negotiated Marriage after watching a scene in a TV show that had a woman rushing around, late for work and wearing very high heels. The show had nothing to do with a marriage-of-convenience, but for some reason, that scene inspired me for Molly. It’s usually a little, random thing, and then the story grows out of it.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? There’s a frustration I often feel when I have so many stories I want to tell but not enough time in which to write them. That sometimes make me feel very anxious—like I’ll never catch up to my inspiration—which distracts me from writing at all. I will also often get inspired for future stories when I’m in the middle of writing a current one. That makes me want to jump around and makes it hard to focus on a current project.

About Noelle Adams Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn't stopped writing since. She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she teaches English, reads any book she can get her hands on, and offers tribute to a very spoiled cocker spaniel. She loves travel, art, history, and ice cream. After spending far too many years of her life in graduate school, she has decided to reorient her priorities and focus on writing contemporary romances.

  Stripping teaser 2
Excerpt
“Oh, no,” he said, starting to his feet. “You’re not touching my beard.” “But you’ll look so much better if you’ll let me neaten it up a bit.” “I’m not trying to look good.” She rolled her eyes but didn’t look surprised. “Anyway, I wasn’t thinking about your beard. Right now, I’m after the back of your neck.” “What’s wrong with the back of my neck?” “It’s a mess. When was the last time you got your hair cut?” “I don’t know. I don’t fuss around with things like that.” “Well, it bugs me, so sit still.” He stiffened and watched her suspiciously as she walked around behind him. “I’m not going to touch your big, ugly beard. I promise.” He rolled his eyes but didn’t object when she started to run the trimmer along the back of his neck. “Are you sure you want to do this at the dining room table?” “Better here than on one of my rugs.” He felt uncomfortable as she worked on him, conscious of her body behind him. When he felt the trimmer come toward his jaw, he muttered, “Don’t get carried away.” “Relax.” She turned the trimmer off and leaned over to blow the hair off his neck. The sensation made Ben tense up. He gave himself a firm mental lecture. He was not—not—going to get turned on by Mandy. He’d done really well about resisting that particular temptation over the last several months, and he wasn’t going to give into it this evening. “Oh, Ben, you’re a mess,” she murmured. She ran her fingers through his hair, rubbing his scalp in a way that felt incredibly good. “You’re not going to get any action if you’re such a gorilla.” “I’ll have you know I get plenty of action, and so far I’ve had no complaints.” He actually didn’t have much a social life, but that was by choice and not because he was incapable of picking up a woman. He did wish, however, that Mandy hadn’t brought up the idea of sex. “Yeah, but it might give a woman pause. I mean, how many are going to want to get a kiss from a gorilla?” She moved around to the side of his chair and peered at him. He was pretty sure she was assessing how much damage she was capable of doing to his beard, but her neckline was directly at his eye-level, and the wide neck of her sweater was slipping off one of her shoulders. He stared at the graceful line from her neck to her shoulder—smooth skin, deep curve, faint shadow—and then he swallowed as her beautiful hair slipped over her shoulder to fall forward as she leaned toward him to ruffle his hair. He managed to say, “Kissing me is not like kissing a gorilla.” “Okay. If you say so. Please can I give you just a little trim?” she asked. She was giving him a beseeching look, with a back-note of teasing in her expression. “No.” He didn’t actually care if his hair was trimmed, only he thought it was wiser for her not to be standing so close to him for so long. His body was starting to react to the slipping of her neckline, the flash of full cleavage, and the smell of her drifting over toward him as she moved. “It will look so much better? I bet you’d even be good-looking if we can just get rid of some of this hair.” “Being good-looking is very far down on my priority list.” She laughed and started to massage his scalp again, moving her hands down toward his neck. It felt so good as her fingers pressed hard that he heard himself make a soft moan. “You’re all tense,” she said, kneading his neck. “A massage now and then would be good for you. So would a haircut.” He raised his hands to hold onto the table so he didn’t do something incredibly stupid like turning around and grabbing her. She was just being friendly. Neighborly. She was on this search for family-feelings, and right now she was focusing them on him. But she wasn’t attracted to him—she’d told him over and over again that he wasn’t good-looking the way he was. And sex was the last thing on her mind right now. Besides, he couldn’t offer her anything more than sex, and she deserved so much more. So he gripped the table as she moved down to his shoulders. His breathing was getting ragged as his muscles started to soften. And other things started to harden.
